Egg carton painting

Easter is around the corner, and what would Easter be without eggs? Here's a quick and easy way to use something we probably all have on hand -- an egg carton!

You will need:
  • Egg carton
  • Piece of paper
  • Paint in "spring" colors (we used pink, purple, yellow, and light blue)

Cut a few egg holders off of the carton. (Is there a technical name for this part?)

Use the cut-up egg carton as a "stamp" for the paint on your paper.

I had this activity pictured totally different from how it turned out. I intended for my daughter to use either the bottom of the carton to make "dots," or the top of the carton to make square-like shapes or lines.

As you can see, she had other plans. :) It's great being a toddler!

Here's her finished product! It's not what I thought it would end up looking like, but it was fun just the same... and a happy accident was all the neat color-mixing she did!

  1. Hey, this a neat idea. It is always more fun painting with things other than brushes!

  2. Great post! I really like how this craft is very toddler-friendly, and really about a young child exploring something new and doing it themself.
